The month of June is the official Men’s Health Month. 2017 will mark the 23rd anniversary for the month, which was signed into law by President Clinton as National Men’s Health Week to help raise awareness about health issues impacting men and boys. Men’s Health Month is celebrated across the country with screenings, health fairs, media appearances, and other health education and outreach activities. http://www.menshealthmonth.org/
Why is this Important? This month gives agents, health care providers, public policy makers, the media, and individuals an opportunity to encourage men to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury.
Being a caregiver isn’t always easy. Each day can throw new challenges your way. With that in mind this toolkit was designed to provide insight, tips and tools for the male caregivers of patients with fibromyalgia. http://www.menshealthnetwork.org/pdf/FibroToolkit.pdf
Why is this Important? An estimated 44 million Americans age 18 and older provide unpaid assistance and support to adults. Because of the multi-faceted role that family and caregivers play, they need a range of support services to remain healthy, improve their caregiving skills, and remain in their caregiving role.
The Healthy Aging for Older Adults Website sponsored by the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion provides information on a wide range of topics including: Health-Related Behaviors, Chronic Diseases, Infectious Diseases, Immunizations for Adults, and Injuries Among Older Adults. https://www.cdc.gov/aging/index.html
Why is this Important? An informative and helpful newsletter and online content will keep your clients engaged.
This road map tool will help you advise individuals as to when to enroll into Medicare Part B. https://www.medicareinteractive.org/resources/roadmaps/should-i-enroll-in-part-b
Why is this Important? Whether or not someone who is eligible for Medicare should take Part B depends on how the person receives his or her insurance benefits. Medicare can be either primary or secondary to other insurance. If someone does not enroll into Medicare Part B when they should, even if they believe they are covered, they could pay penalties or have no insurance coverage at all.
